my cats, your cats

cat treats and how cats eat and stink

I'm thinking of all the cats I’ve ever met

and all the cats I will meet 

I'm thinking of my cats ruining nice things

like couches, mugs, and satin shirts

about their cute paws

how they jump on your face at night

and how they watch my snake all day

I'm thinking about my cat next to me

watching me type

probably thinking about eating my fingers

I think about how cats could be ferocious

if they were as big as a bus

and how cats that stay small are the best

how I hate hairless cats

unless they're properly dressed

I'm thinking about cat eyes

the things my cats have seen

the things other cats have seen

.. oh lord, the things some cats have seen

I'm thinking about a cat’s happy tail wag

purring and chirping and how some cats bring you toys

does that mean they like you? or

just want you to help the prey act like prey

I'm thinking about cats giving the cold shoulder or

watching nothing in a dark corner

I'm thinking of all the stray cats that sleep under roots and 

all the cozy cats that have slept on my couch
